The Library and Archives of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organized a Webinar and Hands-on Session entitled Empowering Medical Knowledge Using LWW High Impact Collections – NEJM Bundles on Wednesday, 11/2/2026. The hybrid event took place at Room CBT C, 2nd Floor, FKKMK UGM Library, and was simultaneously attended online by members of the academic community. The program focused on strengthening participants’ understanding and skills in accessing and utilizing reputable medical journal collections to support learning, research, and evidence-based medical education.
The event opened with remarks from the Head of the Data and Information Systems Division of the Universitas Gadjah Mada Library and Archives, Yulistiarini Kumaraningrum, S.P., M.M., who emphasized the importance of optimizing digital collections as part of a strategy to enhance the quality of research and scientific publications in the health sector. “Optimizing digital collections is a strategic step to support higher-quality research and to expand access to scholarly resources, particularly in the field of health,” she said.
The presentation and platform demonstration session was delivered by Feby, S. Biotek., a speaker from Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW). In her presentation, she explained the structure and advantages of the LWW High Impact Collections, including strategies for conducting effective, efficient literature searches using advanced search features. Participants were also introduced to the use of artificial intelligence (AI)-based technology in the journal search process to improve the precision and relevance of search results.
“Through advanced search features and the support of AI technology, researchers can find the most relevant articles more quickly and accurately, making the research process more efficient and strongly evidence-based,” Feby explained.
Through the hands-on session, participants received direct guidance on clinical topic searching techniques, the use of research-based filters, and strategies for accessing journals according to specific academic needs. The practical session was conducted interactively, featuring a simulation of article searches within the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) Bundles, a recognized international medical reference source. The discussion further addressed strategies to optimize database access in support of undergraduate and postgraduate theses, scientific publications, and the strengthening of evidence-based medicine within the academic environment.
This initiative reflects the UGM Library and Archives’ commitment as a strategic partner in advancing information literacy and maximizing the use of high-quality digital reference resources. The program also aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), by providing inclusive and reliable access to scientific information.
Through the organization of this webinar and practical session, the UGM Library and Archives continues to promote the enhancement of research capacity and learning based on credible scientific resources, particularly in the field of health sciences.
