Lawang Sajarah Becomes a Learning Hub for Japanese Students on Managing Rare Collections

Prof. Yako Kozano from Aichi Prefectural University, Japan, together with several students from the Land of the Rising Sun, visited Lawang Sajarah at the UGM Library and Archives on Thursday (18/9/2025). Prof. Yako, who has recently been collaborating with UGM and is highly proficient in Indonesian, introduced elements of Indonesian culture to his students through the rare collections at Lawang Sajarah. There, they learned firsthand about the management, organization, and development plans of rare and historical collections that form an important part of UGM’s institutional memory.

UM Digital Library Study Program Visits UGM Library and Archives to Strengthen Academic Collaboration

Efforts to strengthen inter-university collaboration in library management are becoming increasingly concrete. On Friday (August 29, 2025), the Diploma IV Program in Digital Library, Faculty of Vocational Studies, Universitas Negeri Malang (UM), conducted an academic visit to the UGM Library and Archives. The meeting took place in the Conference Room, Building L7, 2nd Floor.

The UM delegation was welcomed by Arif Surachman, S.I.P., M.B.A., Head of the UGM Library and Archives, and Wahyu Supriyanto, S.E., M.Si., Head of the Library Division. The agenda covered a presentation on the facilities and services of the UGM Library and Archives, as well as discussions on internship opportunities, which are planned to become a strategic form of collaboration.

Wahyu Supriyanto emphasized that UGM is always open to collaborations that enrich students’ learning experiences.

“At the UGM Library and Archives, we have involved part-time students to assist staff with various tasks. This scheme not only helps reduce the workload but also provides students with real-world insights into library practices,”

Yogyakarta – In the midst of an overwhelming flow of global scientific information, the ability to navigate reputable sources of knowledge has become an urgent necessity for the academic community. Responding to this challenge, the Library and Archives of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) organized the Literacy Class: Access and Search Strategies for E-Resources in August 2025.
