UGM Library and Archives and the University of Bengkulu Library Sign Cooperation Agreement

Strengthening university library services requires sustainable collaboration. In line with this goal, the Library and Archives of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed a delegation from the Academic Library Unit (UPA) of the University of Bengkulu for the signing of a Cooperation Agreement on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, at the Archives Meeting Room of UGM Library and Archives.

The delegation was received by Arif Surachman, S.I.P., MBA, Head of UGM Library and Archives. The meeting marked a follow-up to the institutional cooperation commitment between the two libraries to support the development of their respective institutions.

Through the signing of the agreement, both institutions aim to strengthen professional ties and create opportunities for collaboration in university library development. This partnership provides a platform for sharing experiences, exchanging knowledge, and exploring collaborative initiatives that can improve the quality of library services.

Interinstitutional collaboration is an important step toward building an information service ecosystem that responds to the needs of the academic community. Stronger networks also create opportunities for libraries to learn from one another and develop management approaches suited to the evolving challenges of higher education.

“Cooperation between libraries needs to be translated into programs that deliver tangible benefits to both institutions. By sharing knowledge and experience, libraries can continue to develop services that are relevant to users’ needs,” said Arif Surachman.

This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17: Partnerships for the Goals, which emphasizes the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainable development. It also supports SDG 4: Quality Education by strengthening the role of libraries in learning and access to knowledge.

The signing of the agreement marks the beginning of an ongoing collaboration, with the expectation that targeted follow-up initiatives will deliver benefits to both institutions. Ultimately, partnerships between academic libraries go beyond strengthening institutional relationships; they also create opportunities to expand libraries’ contributions to higher education and knowledge development in Indonesia.
