Perpustakaan dan Arsip Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) welcomed a study visit from the Library Technical Implementation Unit (UPA) of Universitas Tidar (Untidar) on Monday (February 9, 2026), held at the Archive Meeting Room, L7 Building, 2nd Floor. The visit focused on deepening understanding of digital scholarly reference governance, particularly the management of reputable international journal databases, from selection strategies to the evaluation of their use by the academic community.
Head of Perpustakaan and Arsip UGM, Arif Surachman, SIP., MBA., stated that the visit marked an important moment to strengthen collaboration among university libraries. “Digital collection management covers database subscription strategies, the provision of effective and sustainable access, and efforts to ensure a positive impact on the quality of education and research,” he said.
During the presentation session, Head of the Division of Data and Information Systems, Perpustakaan and Arsip UGM, Yulistiarini Kumaraningrum, S.P., M.M., explained the digital collection management process implemented at UGM, covering acquisition and access management, and usage evaluation. “Digital collection management at UGM includes processes from acquisition to evaluation of collection use, to ensure content availability, ease of access, and service sustainability for the academic community,” Yulistiarini explained.
Meanwhile, Aprilia Mardiastuti, SIP., MA., presented the process of conducting collection needs surveys as a basis for decision-making in service development. According to her, user involvement is key to keeping subscribed collections relevant. “We conduct collection needs surveys regularly to map the needs of the academic community, so that the collections developed align with learning and research needs,” Aprilia said.
The Universitas Tidar delegation participating in the study visit consisted of four members: Wahyu Andriyanto, S.A.P. (Head of Academic Affairs), Dr. Drs. Hari Wahyono, M.Pd. (Head of the Library Technical Implementation Unit), Ginanjar Kurniawan, S.IP. (First-Level Expert Librarian), and Dicki Agus Nugroho, S.Hum. (Operational Service Officer). The presence of these key stakeholders reflects Untidar’s strong commitment to developing academic-need-based digital literacy services.
Hari Wahyono, M.Pd., Head of the Library Technical Implementation Unit of Universitas Tidar, expressed appreciation for UGM’s openness in sharing knowledge and experience. “We gained a comprehensive understanding of international journal database management, which will serve as important input for strengthening library services at Universitas Tidar,” he said.
This activity aligns with support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) through the provision of inclusive and high-quality access to scholarly information, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through the strengthening of inter-university networks.
Through this study visit, Perpustakaan and Arsip UGM reaffirmed their role as a strategic partner in building the national knowledge ecosystem. Cross-institutional collaboration is expected to continue, fostering innovation in library services and expanding access to knowledge for education and research in Indonesia.
