A total of 80 blood bags were successfully collected during the blood donation event organized by the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Library and Archives in collaboration with the UGM Academic Hospital (RSA) on Friday (15/8). Held at the Ex-Periodicals and Reference Room, Building L6, 1st Floor, this activity was part of the 2025 Gadjah Mada Library and Archives Fair (GMLAF), carrying the spirit of social care and public health awareness.

The event ran from 08:00 to 13:00 WIB and was attended by 103 registrants from both the UGM academic community and the general public, with 80 eligible donors meeting the requirements. The donation process adhered to strict medical safety standards, including blood pressure checks, hemoglobin tests, and brief consultations before blood collection.
Head of the UGM Library and Archives, Arif Surachman, S.IP., MBA., expressed his appreciation for the participants’ enthusiasm. “Blood donation is a simple act of care with a profound impact. Every drop of donated blood can mean the difference between life and death for someone,” he stated, emphasizing that this initiative directly contributes to community health and well-being.

This initiative reflects UGM’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). SDG 3: Good Health and Well-Being is realized through ensuring the availability of blood supplies for medical needs, while SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals is embodied in the collaboration between UGM and healthcare institutions in organizing the event.
With the success of this blood donation event, the UGM Library and Archives has proven its role not only as a center of literacy and knowledge but also as a space that fosters humanity, social care, and togetherness.
