Morning Exercise at the UGM Library and Archives: Fostering Health and Togetherness

The fresh morning air filled the Amphitheater area of the Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Library and Archives on Friday (November 14). Starting at 7 a.m., participants enthusiastically followed the energetic movements of a group exercise session accompanied by lively music. The activity served as a moment to maintain fitness while strengthening camaraderie in the workplace.

This activity was organized by Korpagama of the UGM Library and Archives, a division of the Universitas Gadjah Mada Staff Corps that actively facilitates various employee well-being programs, and was supported through a collaboration with Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI). In addition to the participation of UGM Library and Archives staff, the event also involved archivists and librarians from various units across UGM, creating a warm and enthusiastic atmosphere.

“Morning exercise gives new energy to all employees. Simple activities like this help us stay motivated, strengthen teamwork, and create a healthier work environment,” said Arif Surachman, SIP., MBA., Head of the UGM Library and Archives.

Meanwhile, Haryanta, S.I.P., Chair of the Korpagama Library and Archives UGM, stated that the activity serves as a momentum to reinforce work spirit and unity within the campus community. “Through morning exercise, we hope to create a workplace that feels warmer and more energized,” he remarked.

This activity also served as a concrete form of support for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Goal 3, Good Health and Well-Being, which emphasizes the importance of healthy lives and well-being for all. In addition, it is aligned with SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, which encourages cross-sector collaboration in various development initiatives. Through this simple yet meaningful activity, the UGM Library and Archives demonstrated its commitment to fostering a healthy, productive, and harmonious work environment.

The morning exercise concluded with a financial literacy session aimed at expanding staff members’ knowledge and understanding of financial management. The atmosphere grew even warmer with an informal gathering that strengthened the sense of togetherness among participants. The event was also enlivened by the distribution of attractive door prizes, boosting enthusiasm and making the morning’s activities even more memorable.
